The dual Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Administration degree combines the curriculums of the AACSB-accredited MBA and the CAHME-accredited MHA into one convenient program. You can earn your degree faster and with fewer credits than taking each program separately.

CAHIIM Accredited

You can extend your technical acumen further by specializing in Data Analytics. Select this optional specialization to master an array of analytics concepts and tools, including data mining, modeling, and visualization. CAHIIM Accredited

The online Executive Certificate in Health Administration program offers you a toolkit for leadership, ethical decision- and policy-making, and organizational strategy in a fast-moving industry. Consisting of select online courses from the CAHME-accredited Master of Health Administration (MHA) program, the Executive Certificate can be completed in just 10 months.

You have the option to apply the credits that you earn in the online certificate program toward The University of Scranton’s MHA degree. Note that you must complete the graduate degree within six years of starting the certificate.

The online Certificate in Health Informatics is an accelerated option that consists of the first four courses of the online MS in Health Informatics. Each course is three credits and provides you with the foundational knowledge and skills to apply information technology solutions for healthcare organizations.

Credit for the certificate courses can also be applied toward the full Master’s in Health Informatics program. No healthcare or IT experience is required, and two foundational modules are offered to students who need background in those areas as a condition of admission.

Curriculum: Coursework Rooted in Excellence

Gain dual master’s degrees — both your MBA and MHA — in less time than it would take to earn them separately. The AACSB-accredited MBA focuses on business concepts such as the Triple Bottom Line theory, which considers social, fiscal, and environmental impacts on sustainable business development.

The CAHME-accredited MHA focuses on the unique considerations of the healthcare industry, such as regulatory, quality, and technology needs. Additionally, the MBA-MHA coursework is consistent with the Healthcare Leadership Alliance’s (HLA) competency model, offering outcomes in leadership, business, management, and more.

HAD 502 Health Care Law

Impact of legal factors affecting patient/client care and the operations and administration of healthcare facilities and systems. Examines principles and practices of law, legal relationships, sources of law and legal processes affecting the health services system. Conceptual foundations are drawn from the political sciences.

HAD 521 Healthcare Financial Management II

Exposure to complex problems and case studies with a focus on healthcare providers. This course develops skills in analysis, synthesis and evaluation of advanced financial management theories, principles, concepts and techniques. Topics include: quantitative analysis in financial management, premium rate setting, cost and utilization rates, advanced managerial accounting concepts, variance analysis, HMO rate setting, private and public healthcare reimbursement systems under managed care, financial aspects of integration, and managing resources.

HAD 517 Global Health Management

This course provides an introduction to global healthcare services and systems. Provides a foundation for comparing and analyzing cultural, historical, geographic, environmental, economic and political factors that influence health. Examines determinants of health and illness, health status, public health, health policy and global healthcare management.

HINF 550 Community Health for Health Informatics

This course explores population health from a systems and organizational perspective with an emphasis on health information technology. Research in health care is analyzed in relation to evidence-based practice, use of large databases, data mining, consumer information, health promotion and maintenance, and quality assessment. The management of health data in the achievement of healthcare organization objectives is emphasized.
